Well I tried to finish this up yesterday but as fate would have it, my internet was doing a major update and living in the sticks I was very limited on options. Believe this was just one of those things that happens to remind us how life can throw those curve-balls that we have no control over.
My favorite lesson in module 4 was the tradebooks and fishbowl procedures. I am a firm believer that if we can teach our students to be great readers, they will be capable of becoming life-long learners. I have often wanted to incorporate tradebooks into my class but have never found the time to look at those Lexile levels and book size. This lesson has made this something I now see I could incorporate this school year. I also love the fishbowl method of discussion, I have never utilized it but now with this distinct outline I will try, and try, and try again. I believe that this tool will help students become self-controlled, mature adults.
I did have a hard time with the environmental engineering project. I really wanted to come up with an unique idea or approach. Having had so many years looking at environmental problems and solutions I did struggle and have to walk away and ponder the issue. This is where I find the best ideas occur, and once again it reminds me that this is often something students need as well.....TIME! Stop rushing to solve but ponder.
